History

Carlyle and Aurora Sees arrived in the Dominican Republic in 1940. They purchased the property in 1948.

The first 10,000 coconut trees were planted in 1948. This was the beginning of the plantation, known as “Coco Loco”.

In 1955, cattle were introduced to the savanna area. The property was an operational coconut and cattle plantation until 1973.

This unique property consists of 424 hectares located on the northeast coast of the island of Hispaniola. It is nestled on the southern shores of Samana Bay. A natural deep water port, Samana Bay is famous for the humpback whales that return each year to give birth to their calves in its warm waters.

The property consists of three zones: Savanna on approximately 244 hectares, Wetland on approximately 80 hectares, and the remaining 100 hectares of beachfront. 1kilometer of virgin, white-sand beach faces the pristine waters of Samana Bay which opens to the Atlantic Ocean.
